More on Revising

Updated: Jul 20, 2020

This makes the third week of revising my new manuscript. Week 3. Over 21 days. It feels like way, way longer than that. Like years longer.

I've gone through my bookshelf and collected all the books on craft I own. I've ordered at least three others. I've done a lot of thinking, research, and jotting in a notebook. But not a whole lot of actual writing. Until these last three weeks. Did I mention it was going slow?

With some books the characters come easily and sort of drive the plot forward. But not so with this one. With this one not a lot seems to be coming easily.

Here's the thing I need to remember. To be able to revise a draft, I have to have written one.  I wrote a whole novel length story!  I thought the whole thing up and worked on it and wrote it. That's not nothing. That's 173 pages of something. Something I now need to make better.eek of revising my new manuscript. Week 3. Over 21 days. It feels like way, way longer than that.
